The problem is that as soon as people make games to get the most profit out of they will be shit and generic. Same happens in everything profit driven. Just look at music charts or Hollywood movies, everything the same shite. Nobody wants to take a risk. Everything creative and fresh is way to risky

There will always be niche devs able to charge a premium price and make a decent living. The rainforest canopy is dominated by the big devs/trees, while the forest floor is covered by smaller, niche devs/fauna.

Because the addressable market is in the billions, being able to monetize with 0.1% of that market is a viable business model (0.1% of 1 billion is 1,000,000, and for a $5 game is $700,000 - after Apple's cut). Now, if you're just looking at the iOS market the addressable market is smaller, but creative people will find ways to produce content for which others are willing to pay a premium. My $0.02.

Any company that copies another game within 3-6 months of the original is a threat to mobile gaming.

Lack of originality is what will cripple mobile gaming in the end.

I've tried to be optimistic about F2P, but it's hard to shake the feeling of being preyed upon. Reading Keith Burgun's articles on F2P, grinding, and design in general have me reconsidering what a game is, and I'm second guessing all the time. Whether it's sad or not, and though I'll always be playing games in some capacity, I'm inclined to just pursue different and more worthwhile pursuits and not worry about these issues altogether.
